How Little

How Little

You looked at me
At once
You formed an opinion
Then you learned
About my ethicity
About my religion
Your opinion became stronger
You voiced it
I became your joke
Your escape
Your reason
By birth
I am born into
No choice of mine
Yet
I stand tall
Thankful
I am sweet and kind
I live a life of service
You do not see this
Your bigotry prevents
It is your torment
Your prison
How Little you are
A human I am
Know me
I am more than what you see
